BYU Player Profile – Ross Apo

Ross Apo

   Ross Apo

   Position: Wide Receiver

   Class: Sophomore

   Height: 6’3″  Weight: 206

   Hometown: Arlington, Texas

Apo is a redshirt freshman and forms half of the wide receiver dynamic duo alongside Cody Hoffman. Recruited by big name schools such as Texas, he chose to come to BYU and fans were drooling to get him on the field.  After a medical redshirt in 2010 as a freshman, he burst onto the scene as QB Jake Heaps’ favorite target early in the season and proved his worth to the everyone through all the turmoil as a reliable receiver for QB Riley Nelson.  He caught 34 passes for 453 yards and 9 touchdowns.  My favorite play at the end of the season was the quick toss to Apo on the outside and then watch him go.  With a full offseason of consistency for this whole offense, I expect the passing game will be more cohesive and Apo should see an uptick in all his numbers this season as a perfect compliment to #1 receiver Cody Hoffman.  Expect big things from Apo in 2012.
