What can I say about Cody Hoffman that you don’t already know?  This two-time letterman flew under the radar in northern California receiving only one other offer for a scholarship than BYU – that was from Sacramento State.  Hoffman came to BYU with a chip on his shoulder and a desire to show everyone else what they missed by not recruiting him.  He has been the team leader in receiving yards both seasons and led the team in all receiving categories last season.  He also took a kickoff back to the house against UCF for 93 yards; the first kickoff return at BYU since 1998.  And to put a cherry on top of his production value, he has a two game streak in bowl games of three TD catches in each.  With a full off-season to work with the offense that will center around senior starter Riley Nelson, this team should click in early and Hoffman will be a huge part of it.  He racked up 943 receiving yards last season on 61 catches and pulled in 10 touchdowns while spending a lot of time saving terrible passes from Nelson.  I expect fully that he will top all three of these statistical categories this coming season on the heels of second year offensive coordinator Brandon Doman’s statement that he wants this offense to pass for 300+ yards/game this season.  Expect big things from this offense and expect Hoffman to be a key cog in this engine in 2012.
