How they match up:

Does anyone really know what happened to BYU this past week?  I don’t.  I have some ideas.  I think they were looking a bit ahead of San Diego and forgot to play 40 full minutes.  They lost the game, and as a result, the hard realization came that the bubble no longer exits for them; their road is indeed difficult.  There was a hangover that ensued and they forgot to show up for defense against a really bad San Francisco team that took advantage of some hot shooting in the second half.

What does that mean for this game?  I think BYU now knows it can’t afford anymore slip ups.  They now know that merely showing up for a game is not good enough for this season.  They now know that every opponent will demand their full attention now that San Diego and San Francisco have shown the league that BYU can be stood up to by more than the Big Two.  BYU will show up. Watch for Brandon Davies and Tyler Haws to get back in top form.

And Portland really isn’t very good.  They have a negative scoring margin and the discrepancy between BYU and Portland is even bigger.  They don’t shoot well.  They do manage to keep opponent’s scoring down but BYU will be out to prove themselves once again.  Portland is in trouble.

Prediction: BYU wins at home and it isn’t even close
